BRIDGE OF WEIR COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Minutes of the regular meeting of Bridge of Weir Community Council held on Thursday 1st September 2011 at 7.00pm in the Royal British Legion Club.


PRESENT: S.Clark, S Liddell, J Ellis, P Allan, H Martin, D McKenzie, M Mills. Cllr. Puthucheary.

APOLOGIES: T Fulton, G Lethorn, E O'Hare, G Svensson.

VISITORS: PC Kilgour, PC Humphreys, C Gellens-East.

The Chairman opened the meeting and explained why there had been a date and venue change.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:

The Secretary said that there was a mistake on page 2 re the parking situation should have read Houston Road and not Warlock Road as stated. It had already been changed in the computer.  The minutes were then proposed by P Allan and seconded by H Martin.

The Police reported that there was still a problem with parking at the primary school, they did say that it was not illegal parking but inconsiderate parking.

SECRETARY'S REPORT:

The Secretary reported on the Forum meeting held on Monday 29th August She attended with D. McKenzie.  The Guest speaker was Chief Supt. D Stewart who gave a short presentation and and spoke of how the crime figures in his division in general were falling, however this was dependent on which area you lived, but there was an increase in the theft of metals.
An update was given on the Protocol for Communications between CC's and the Roads Department.
Guest Speakers for next session were considered.
The closure through lack of funding for the ASCC and were assured that insurances were in place until April 2012.

A letter would be sent to our MSP regarding the lack of funding for the ASCC, our disappointment at this and asking if this could be revisited.
The Secretary and Chairman said that anything that now comes through email would be sent to all members and requested they read it before coming to a meeting with comment.

TREASURER'S REPORT:  

The Treasurer gave a verbal report and a written copy to the Secretary.  The books for 2010/11 were now closed and ready for audit for the AGM.

FAIRTRADE:  It was agreed that the community council would support this and encourage businesses in the village to do the same.

THE BRIDGE:  The community council supports this venture S. Clark is on the Board and has attended 3 / 4 meetings since.  D McKenzie has now joined the board.
They have now reached their financial target for the 1st stage and will be looking for grants to complete the 2nd stage, they hope to have the Post Office up and running in time for Christmas.
The board will be run in a similar way to the Parks Group.

PLANNING:  There was no planning report.  A member of the public from Golf Course Road addressed the meeting with concerns from the residents of the area about a planning application to build a dwelling house within the grounds of a listed building in the conservation area.  The planning convener was not in attendance, but we said we would pass on this information for him to have a look at, and make contact with her.

Houston Road Speed Limit: 40mph was passed by the Board meeting at Renfrewshire Council and should be reduced to 30mph after consultation.

Brighter Bridge of Weir:  A letter to be sent congratulating them on the improvements in the village.
Gully's are to be cleared in Donaldfield Road.
A gift on behalf of the village will be given to Mrs Allan at St Mungo Court on the occasion of her 100th Birthday.
The date for the Christmas Lights Switch-on is Wednesday 7th December.

Date and time of next meeting:

The Annual General Meeting will take place on Tuesday 4th October at 7.00pm in the Cargill Hall, followed by the regular meeting.
