T Fulton the Community Council planning convener spoke about this proposal the retail unit and vehicle access. The closing date for comment / objections was 20th July.
Discussion took place on the size of the development and that his would probably be the first phase as this is only a part of the land owned by Patterson Partners.
There is a path through the land which has been walked for over 20years.
Traffic congestion through the village.
This was an old dump and toxic waste from the leather works was deposited there. This would require testing.
It would be the loss of agricultural land.
This development could kill the centre of the village.
At the moment there has been bad management of the land where some clearance has taken place.
Fear that the land if disturbed would allow allow toxic waste to enter the river.
It was decide the Community Council would organise and distribute a leaflet drop around the village. The Chairman asked for volunteers to help with this.
