Mitchell Trophy   Bridge of Weir 1   Dennistoun Eagles 0

"It was only in the last minute of extra time that Bridge of Weir won their Mitchell Trophy replayed first round tie at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night.

Play throughout was of a thrilling nature and Dennistoun were very unfortunate to lose in such circumstances after putting up a great struggle. W S McLeod was Bridge of Weir's best player and it was fitting that he should secure the winning goal.

W W Russell had a great shot for Dennistoun in the first period which D Buchanan did well to save. Then J F Logan made a great double save cutting out a shot from A F Reid and also blocking the rebound.

Buchanan had a fine save for Bridge of Weir at the start of the second period after Russell had skated through in grand fashion. I S McLeod was then sent to the boards for charging Russell and S Stevenson met with the same punishment for an infringement on R E Muirhead. Later, L Maxton was sent to the side when the goal was interfered with.

In the third period, J H Borland was penalised in a similar manner for an offence on Reid when the latter was going right in on goal and Maxton had again to visit the bench when Reid was again charged down. Then a heap of players were seen lying in the Dennistoun goalmouth and the puck entered the net but an infringement was given.

In the final period of extra time, W G McDonald was sent off for downing Stevenson and in the final minute of the game, W S McLeod scored a grand goal beating the defence and rounding Logan who had advanced to send the puck safely into the vacant goal."
