Scottish League (Canada Cup)   Bridge of Weir 1   Bears 0

"Bridge of Weir won the Canada Cup at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night when they defeated Bears by a last minute goal after a thrilling game.

Play throughout was fast and full of incident and the Bears because of their pluck and endurance deserved to draw. Bridge of Weir never settled to their usual game mainly because of the magnificent checking and defence adopted by their opponents.

A F Reid had a good effort for Bridge of Weir in the opening minute and W H Dunlop just stopped the fast low shot.

In the second period, R F Winfield had a clever try for Bears and W M Muirhead was sent off the ice for an infringement.

In the third period, there were only minutes to go when I S McLeod scored for Bridge of Weir forcing the puck past Dunlop from close in."

Bridge of Weir: A Ross; W M Muirhead and J K Woodrow; I S McLeod, W G McDonald and A F Reid.- R E Muirhead and D Buchanan.

Bears: W H Dunlop; R O MacDonald and J R Gilmour; A Rintoul, J Johnstone and R F Winfield.- N C McKenzie, C Russell, L S Sproule and D Gerrard.
