President's Pucks Tournament   Bridge of Weir 2   Glasgow University 1

"Bridge of Weir, handicapped by the absence of their regular defence pair M D Brennan and W G McDonald, found it difficult against Glasgow University in the first round of the President's Pucks tournament at the Scottish Ice Rink, Crossmyloof, Glasgow last night.

Although often shaky in checking and clearing, Bridge of Weir were usually the more dangerous and clever raiders in attack. W S McLeod and J Kelly, who was playing his first match for his new club, were the best of their side. K A Gray, D Edwards and J O McCabe often made headway individually but poor backing up lost them many chances.

Gray scored for Glasgow University during a scramble near goal early in the game. McLeod equalised in the second period and gained the lead for his side in the final period. With W M Muirhead off the ice on two occasions undergoing penalties near the end, Bridge of Weir had a difficult task to hold on to their narrow lead."

Bridge of Weir: A Ross; W S McLeod and W M Muirhead; A F Reid, J Kelly and R E Muirhead.- D Buchanan.

Glasgow University: P McKay; F McLernan and R H Gardiner; K A Gray, D Edwards and J O McCabe.- I H Borland, A Rintoul and A F Thomson.

Referee: W Ross (SIHA).
